Week 6

Okay, so summer kept me even busier than expected. I was really looking forward to this summer and it actually turned out pretty sucky. With all three boys at home there were pretty much daily wars, I developed an abscess in my mouth, had to have 4 wisdom teeth removed, developed dry socket in two of those removals, and managed to break something in my foot the day before I was supposed to take my children to Brome Fair (it's an agricultural fair that's a big deal here). All in all it wasn't a great summer. My updates may still be a bit slow because I've also decided to throw a big Halloween party for my oldest son and two of his friends with a total of 24 kids attending. Honestly, I think I let my renewed energy get me in a little deeper than I should have.

Since it's been awhile since I updated (all right, it's been most of the summer, lol) I'll just quote the summary from last week for those of you who don't feel like reading it again:

"Burdock had his birthday, learned all his toddler skills in a day, and then started ensnaring hapless wanderers with his Wabbit head. A few days later he became a child and decided to help his parents out by lifting the Education restrictions when he grows up. Glen made it all the way to All Star, while Agrimony decided to quit her job due to her expectant status. Betony Leaf made her arrival on Sunday, and Kim was expecting her first and only litter of kittens."

Week 6

Day 36 - Monday (Winter)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moonshine takes his job as a pet very seriously, even keeping Betony company while the humans sleep.

It's 5am when Kim decides to give birth. 3 kittens, well, it could be worse, at least this way we've got replacements for all the adult cats.

Meet Sassy (female), Mouse (male), and Mr. Whiskers (male). At the moment these guys are all clones of each other with a Lazy, Friendly, Cowardly personality. However, their star signs do vary. Sassy is an Aries, Mouse is Pisces, and Mr. Whiskers is a Scorpio. These cats were all named after my friend Pat's cats, although I doubt any of them will look like their namesakes.

It looks like Kim may actually like her kittens. Thank the heavens that she gave birth to them on the right floor. At least now none of my sims need to carry them to this floor.

Especially for Taryn, here's a shot of Burdock off to his first day in school. Probably the only day he'll be happy about it too.

Once more Agrimony sacrifices her own desires for the needs of the family. She's still got one charisma point left to earn, but instead she's cleaning the house. At least she gets some fun out of it.

Such a sweet mother-daughter moment. Too bad that all of this is not doing anything to help raise Agrimony's aspirations.

Slowly but surely, Glen claws his way up the athletics career track. Too bad sims are only allowed to lift one restriction each.

Thank goodness that Moonshine has suppressed the Pet Show Biz restrictions. Life is hard enough in Waknuk without the added difficulty of being unable to learn to study or do homework.

Hoorah! Agrimony's finally maxed out all of her skills. Too bad it wasn't her LTW. Still, she just may be able to get into Science. I think it may be time for Betony to grow-up. I'd forgotten that birthday cakes are now fair game!

Well, it's 11 pm before Betony wakes up for a birthday celebration, and Glen and Burdock will both sleep through it, but the important part is to get her school age fast enough that Agrimony can start her career in science BEFORE she's an elder.

Happy Birthday!!!!

Not an ideal apocalyptic personality, but it's not too bad. Can't stand her outfit though. Enjoy the glowing goodness kiddo, 'cause that's the only one you get.

1, 2, 3, it's so easy with smart milk to get this all out of the way. Someone's going to have to lift that stupid alien technology eventually though, I've only got three bottles of smart milk left. Should be enough for one more generation.

Day 37 - Tuesday (Winter)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't let them fool you, this is one of the few times that I've caught Kim and Sake playing together without being forced to by a human.

Moonshine's a great Daddy, but it's hard for the family to keep up with the food dishes and the litter box with six cats running around. It could be worse, there could be doggy puddles all over the ground sprouting weeds. Although I'm not sure if they sprout weeds in winter.

Agrimony couldn't believe her luck. Her first day of job hunting and the only job in the paper was in science. Incredible! (Ok, so I'm the one who couldn't believe my luck)

Agrimony was a little late for work, but they hadn't actually expected her till tomorrow anyway. She's starting off as a Field Researcher.

Glen's a little too devoted. His daughter was supposed to drink her milk and go back to playing with her wabbit head while he worked on his last body skill point. She's not even dirty Glen!

Keep going Agrimony....

Poor Burdock, it's really sad when playing with your baby sister is the most fun you can have.

Through much perseverance on my part (and lining up "Do Yoga" eight times in a row) Glen has finally maxed out his body skills. About bloody time too.

Day 38 - Wednesday (Winter)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Snow Day!!!!! Time to skill build kiddo! But first, go play with your sister and get your fun levels up.

The cats have actually saved this family many times over. Besides suppressing restrictions, they are also a constant source of amusement and an easy way to score some aspiration points, since the family constantly wants to ask them to perform tricks.

Oops! We almost missed Kim's birthday. I better start thinking about locking the pets out of the house or something. Seems kind of mean to the kittens, but I can't remember how long cats live for after they crustify.

Unfortunately for Burdock, the only way he's getting his nose out of this book is if a fellow survivor wanders by so that he can play chess with them and make some more contacts for the family.

Oh heavens! She's captured a kitten (Sassy). You've got to admit, it's awful cute though!

Go Agrimony Go! She's only got 6 more days before she crustifies, but she seems to be going after her dreams with a vengeance!

Darn! And yet good. This means that the Pet Show Biz restrictions are back in place, but at least he died outside. I think Moonshine made it to the ripe old age of 36. Agrimony was really broken up about it.

I was forced however to move the grave despite rules. I can't exactly let it block the road. I think even Pinstar would agree that this is one of those times when it's necessary to bend the rules.

Day 39 - Thursday (Winter)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow, two snow days in a row. Burdock has it good for now. With the death of Moonshine he's now only allowed to build Logic (since it's fun). He'll probably build a little bit of cleaning too since he can still do chores.

Birthday time for the kitties!

Mr. Whiskers

Mouse

Sassy

As usual, Agrimony is stuck teaching the cats tricks while random wanderers make use of her house. Her son and husband are too busy to bother unless they need to raise their fun levels.

Betony's lost yet another day of her life to satisfy her mother's dreams. You see, Agrimony and Glen both have to work tomorrow, so little missy here needs to be in school. The jammies are perfect for a nuclear winter and I love that hair-do on her!

Looks like I'm pretty lucky. So far nobody's grown-up into something I really hate.

Glen's actually decided to help out with pet training, mainly because his fun is low and Agrimony is busy trying to befriend Chico Ramirez.

Day 40 - Friday (Winter)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This family is totally overrun with cats. This isn't even all of them, we're missing Mr. Whiskers. Maybe I should ask Betony to become a Criminal Mastermind and help LIFT pet restrictions instead of just suppressing them? It's so hard to decide this early on in the game. For instance, we might be better off lifting Gamer and Adventure or Law and Politics. Hmm, looks like it's time for another poll. I'll be having one person lift Criminal just so I don't have to have all these pets that's for sure.

OK, this is getting silly now, that makes three snow days in a row, and both parents have to go to work. Looks like Agrimony will have to bite the bullet. And she can't even get another job in science after this, wah!!! Great, now I'll have to try to keep her relatively happy with her rather weak wants. It's all cat-centric now, and those just aren't worth much. Darn it!

Well, it looks like at least one person in this family will get to fulfill their dreams.

It's a good thing that apparently training pets is fun. I'm afraid to buy more than one chess table since I can't sell them off later on, and even that isn't much fun for the kids.

Day 41 - Saturday (Winter)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh Cripes! Bailey, go away before Agrimony and Glen sense you on the lot and start spinning up werewolf wants.

Ok, so Saturday day and afternoon were extremely boring. It was all about chess, chores, and training pets. This is seriously the most interesting thing that happened. Family has to keep making new friends because they can't keep the old ones. Partially because I always forget that the servers are down until too late. It'll get better later because it's Burdock's birthday tonight.

Glen, you rock! A promotion and someone who's already halfway to being a friend.

Oh man! I should have known that eventually my luck would run out and one of them would grow-up into a hideous outfit. It's really sad, because much as a makeover is usually the first thing to happen after a birthday, Show Business is just so low down on my list of priorities for now.

Yeah, well maybe after you lift a more important restriction. Could have been worse, he could have wanted 20 Woohoos or 20 Loves.

Day 42 - Sunday (Winter)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, at least one of the cats is getting promotions.

Make that two cats with promotions, unfortunately it's Mr. Whiskers who needs to get promoted.

Insta-promotion!

Wow, Glen's finally remembered that he's a Knowledge sim. Exactly how does a Knowledge sim end up with a LTW of Hall of Famer? Either way, at least he's spinning up wants to skill build again. Agrimony and Betony spend all their wants on the cats, and now that he's a teen all Burdock thinks about is kissing and flirting and dating (which he's not allowed to do).

Work those buns Burdock. I still haven't decided which restriction you'll be lifting so you might as well get to at least mid-level in all of your skills. I'm rather thinking Criminal for Burdock. I don't really like Romance sims, so I'm thinking that Betony will be heir now. I've pre-rolled her future aspiration, and she'll be family, which means she might be a bit easier to handle than a Romance sim who can't go on dates. Of course, unless we unlock Military Burdock is stuck here annoying us. So many choices. I wonder what Pinstar will add on for the new Bon Voyage expansion? Not sure about restrictions, but I'm assuming that there will be no vacations until Military is unlocked.

Summary
Well, it looks like this week was all about aging. We had a ton of birthdays and one death. I really feel bad for poor Agrimony. If only I'd waited to get her a job in Science till AFTER Burdock had grown-up. I'm having a super hard time keeping her in the green, let alone platinum. Really, I'm thinking it might be better if she's NOT platinum when she crustifies, that way she won't stick around for so long. Glen is still slowly trudging along in his career, and the big question of the moment is which restrictions to unlock next. Don't forget to help me out by voting. I'll be updating the Knowlton Prosperity next, and since I've just managed to pick up Bon Voyage, it's a fairly safe bet that we'll be travelling to some exotic locations.

I did pay off the mob, but I forgot to keep track of how much it cost us. Yet another reason to lift Criminal. The Leafs can afford to pay off the mob, but it sure is annoying.
